When most people think of Ohio they think of farms, factories, or Columbus. However, there are some lovely surprises that are located off the beaten path.
One such spot in Aurora, Ohio. This small town- roughly five square miles - is home to numerous parks and zoos.
Located in East Aurora is Duck Creek Park. This park has a pond that is home to ducks and geese. A short walk along the trails will lead you to open fields and woodland areas, where wildlife such as deer and wild turkey can be found. You can also go fishing in the creek or rent a paddleboat for some fun on the water.
There are many other parks in the city of Aurora. One of them is Rotary Park, which includes a pond, playgrounds and basketball courts. A brand new Liberty Center with an indoor ice skating rink has recently opened near the park for some winter fun.
Good places to see wildlife in Ohio are not limited to parks though. The Columbus Zoo is located just outside this small town in Powell. These beautiful facilities have a wide variety of animals, from gorillas to lions and tigers. Some riverside parks along the Ohio River Scenic Byway offer visitors the chance to see beavers and other animals in their natural habitats.
Aurora, Ohio is a great place for wildlife enthusiasts and families looking for outdoor activities such as kayaking, swimming or biking. The best part is that it's convenient enough to be a day trip from the Columbus area!
